Personally I had never been to Kings Island previously, but I had intentions of visiting ever since Banshee opened in 2014. I was most excited for that world class B&M Invert, and the Vekoma Invertigo.
Let's just say this B&M would be the surprise of the trip for me.
New for 2016 is Tropical Plunge, a drop slide complex located in Soak City. But the water park wouldn't be open for at least a couple more weeks.
The one third size eiffel tower is in the center of the park and acts as a hub.
This is a rare pic that shows Diamondback's full course.
I honestly have no clue why I was so excited to ride a vekoma.
Well, finally I get dropped off right under the main marquee.
Heading towards the main gates, the three coasters sticking out to me were Diamondback, Banshee, and Invertigo.
Here I am welcomed by a lifesize dinosaur!
Entering the park I went straight to Racer knowing that there were Loose Article Bins to put my bag in. Blue side was walk-on while red was one train wait, so I hopped right on.
In terms of capacity Backlot Stunt Coaster is about the worst in the park, not to say the the crew wasn't kicking butt and dispatching trains because they totally were. It's just numbers. Less people per car and only three cars allows for less people.
Making my way towards the entrance, I stumbled upon Woodstock Express.
I was pleasantly surprised by this kiddie coaster and got my photo with the purchase of FunPix.
I didn't take any pictures but Boo Blasters a nice dark ride. A fair amount of the targets weren't working but I still appreciate the park keeping their omnimover ride.
There are three rides at Kings Island that absolutely do not allow loose articles. These would be Banshee, Flight of Fear, and Firehawk. So these three were the first I rode with Alex Sabatka after dropping my stuff off in his car.
But while in the area, there wasn't much of a line for Invertigo, so we had to ride.
From there we credit ran the park starting with Red Side on Racer.
Moving on to Vortex.
And finally ending with Diamondback. We would save Adventure Express and The Beast for later as they are known for giving good rides at night.
The bat was an absolute walk on at dusk.
After riding Adventure Express, our last ride of the day, it had to be the Beast. The wooden coaster is so long, drawn out, and boring that going through it in the dark is the only way to have a marginally good ride.
